Rep. Byron Donalds

United States House of Representatives

Collier County Office

3299 Tamiami Trail East

Suite 105

Naples, FL 34112

Dear Congressman Donalds,

We, the people of Florida's 19th Congressional District, stand united outside your office on this day, March 4, 2025, to voice our deep opposition to decisions and legislative actions that support federal overreach, undermine or dismantle Medicare and Medicaid, and harm the well-being of our families. As your constituents, we are committed to ensuring our concerns are heard and addressed-not ignored in favor of partisan loyalty.

Specifically, we are troubled by several current issues that threaten our district:

Federal Overreach in State Affairs: Ongoing attempts to impose federal mandates that override Florida's ability to govern itself, particularly in healthcare, education, and local economic policies, disregard the unique needs of Southwest Florida. Our seasonal economy and diverse population require solutions tailored to our communities, not dictated by Washington.

Threats to Medicare and Medicaid Stability: Proposals to cut funding or impose restrictive changes to these programs endanger our seniors, low-income families, and disabled neighbors. In our district, many rely on Medicare for affordable care in retirement and Medicaid for long-term support, such as nursing home care or disability services. Any reduction in benefits or access would force our most vulnerable to bear unbearable

costs or lose care entirely.

Legislation Impacting Family Well-Being: We are concerned about bills that could increase financial strain on our households, especially those affecting healthcare costs, childcare access, and economic stability. In cities like Naples and Fort Myers, where the cost of living continues to rise, potential changes to tax credits or social safety nets could hit working families hard, leaving parents struggling to provide for their children amidst

inflation's impact on essentials like groceries and housing.

Congressman Donalds, you were not elected to be a yes-man to President Trump or any other figurehead. Your job is to represent us-the people of Florida's 19th District. We urge you to listen to our voices, not just the most powerful voices in your party, and to stand up to whoever you have to, to improve our Florida way of life. Your decisions should protect working-class people, families, and vulnerable populations-not just the wealthy. Representing us means prioritizing our needs over political allegiance, ensuring our healthcare is secure, our rights are protected, and our families are supported.

We respectfully demand that you oppose any measures that undermine our local needs or weaken the programs that keep our communities strong. Instead, champion legislation that respects Florida's autonomy, protects our access to healthcare, and puts the well-being of our working families, seniors, and most vulnerable first-not policies that cater only to the elite. We are watching, and we are ready to engage further to protect our rights, our future, and the Florida way of life we hold dear.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. We look forward to your response and to seeing your commitment to our district reflected in your votes and advocacy.

Sincerely,

The People of Florida's 19th Congressional District
